Scan Quality

Slides are scanned with a Nikon LS-4000 Super Coolscan.  This scanner utilizes the Kodak Digital ICE (Digital Image Correction and Enhancement) technology that can dramatically improve the scanning quality removing debris and other scratches on the original slides.  Note there is a limitation with Kodacrome slides as due to the nature of the developing process these slides absorb the infrared light used by Digital ICE.

Below are some samples of slides with before (original raw scan) and after (Digital Ice and other automatic image enhancements applied).  All of these slides are almost 50 years old.  Clicking on the images will show you the full size originals.
